El Salvador

I went to El Salvador in January 2016 for a few days (and apparently never wrote about it). I had plans to go somewhere else, but it was poor timing with work so I cancelled the flight. Delta was great and let me keep the value of the tickets 100% as long as I used the credit within a few months – so, I decided for a long weekend trip to El Salvador. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was an incredible trip to a beautiful country rich in culture. I’d definitely go back.

I went with Maya Triangle Tours and would highly recommend them if you’re visiting El Salvador. http://www.mayatriangle.com/ingles/one-day-tours.html

Highlights:

  • Coffee plantation and processing factory
  • Climbing Cerro Verde (okay this was a mixed bag- I hate hiking uphill but the view of the lagoon at the top was incredible and made it worth it)
  • Pupusas – the traditional Salvadorean cuisine
  • Mayan Ruins
